Barry, without seeing your stein all I can tell you are some general things. If the three pictures are relief, the stein was surely mass produced, and other similar Munich souvenirs are still being made—maybe not exactly like yours, but similar. The smiling young monk is the Munich Child, or Münchner Kindl, a symbol for the city. I don’t see anything you’ve written here that would provide information for the Hofbräuhaus to date it prior to 1920, as the crown is still in their logo. Seeing the lid might have helped them. “Made in Germany” has been used on German export items since the late 1880’s. Please show us some photos and perhaps we can give more specific information.
