Rich, Thanks for the picture. The word is clearly not umlauted. I do not think that it is a typo. The word Mucken (moods) is more closely related to Verdruß (frustration) und Ärger (annoyance). I do think that the writer intended a play on words because of the closeness in sounds and spelling of Mucken and Mücken, and mosquitos or gnats are annoying pests. --- This verse is part of Roy De Selms' "Translations Illustrated" work that can be found in the Reading Room.
