Shane, I think the value of a brewery stein is based more on the name of the brewery and the scarcity of the stein. The brewery stein talked about on this post, "Must be a RARE brewery Justin 11/02/2012", eventually sold for $1500. I do not believe a rubbed out capacity mark would have affected the sale at all. If the rub out is not unsightly, my guess is that it would not affect the sale price by more than 10%, if that.
