Alex, I don't think counterfeiting is the right term. It is more a case of misrepresenting. The reproduction reservist steins were intended to be reproductions, but some individuals try to sell them as the original thing either overtly or by citing the dates as though that was the actual age of the stein. There have been numerous instances on eBay of the name "Mettlach" or the Mettlach mark being added to obviously non-Mettlach steins. Some even resort to calling the stein a Mettlach without any Mettlach marks or use the term in the listing to get interest in the listing. I think the case of the eBay RM listing is a clear case of the wrong mold number being added. Perhaps is was made on a Monday, the production date your dad told you never to buy a car as the workers were still recovering from the weekend. We recently had a posting about a D&B TS stein that may have been mismarked with the AM mark. Ron
