Most of these porcelain steins were not marked as to manufacturer, so it will be hard to determine when and where it was made. If there is a hole in the handle, it was designed to have a lid. The lid would make it a stein, otherwise it would either be a lidless stein or a mug. Perhaps our resident German translator and newest Master Steinologist can assist you on the translation. The stein does appear to have some age to it though.
