I sent you a message earlier this morning, perhaps too early since in re-reading it I noted several typos. If that message did get through to you, disregard it or at least note the changes I have made.
Ceres was the ancient Roman goddess of grain.
The phrase in German is:
Schoene braune Ceresgabe ist des Menschen beste Habe.
The lovely brown gift of Ceres in mankind's best possession.
This statement expresses in classic terms the wondrous gift of the brewer's art. This should make your stein even more precious to you.
One further note: The lithophane pictured on the bottom of your stein appears to be in color. If it is, that would make your stein most uncommon. There are very few lithophanes in color. Prosit!
