I must start with a disclaimer. I have only recently become interested in steins. Please forgive my lack of knowledge regarding the subject. This is the first stein I've purchased and I was hoping for assistance id'ing the maker. The stein appears to be stoneware and it is 5 1/2 inches tall. it is 2 1/4 inches across the top and 3 inches across the base. There is a small hole at the top of the handle where I believe a lid was once fastened. (It is no longer there) The scene depicts a hunter with his rifle slung over his shoulder raising a stein. The letters on the stein are HB. I believe the saying reads "only the barmaid knows how much the hunter can tolerate". The base is stamped germany with the numbers 436/2 below. Here are a few pictures.
