There was a series of football player/character steins imported by Henry Cornell in the 1980's which included Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan, Minnesota, Syracuse and perhaps 6 other colleges. They were probably made in Taiwan and sold for a fairly cheap price. When they show up in Gary's or Andre's auctions, they are usually in a group of cheap steins which sells for under $100.
I might have a Penn State one tucked away in my basement but have not looked for it for years. (Let my kids sort that junk out when the ship me off to a cheap nursing home to die!)
There might be a football stein with a Penn State pennant on it made by TJ Maddox in Trenton, NJ about 100 years ago. If so, it will set you back a few hundred $$$ but, I do not recall ever seeing one. They were made for many eastern US and/or Ivy League colleges
