The Mercury mark should contain the word "Mettlach" which indicates that it was made at the plant in Mettlach, not far from Trier. It should have a set of probably four numbers (like 1018) and a set of two numbers (from maybe 92 to 10) which is the year it was made i.e. 1892 or 1910.
Without a factory original lid, it is a mug and the value is much lower.
