During 1971 I was in the ARMY stationed in Kaiserslautern Germany. I purchased around 14 steins to send home to my parents. There is not to much identification on the bottoms. Two of the steins are very unusual. I haven't seen anything on the web like them. They are both 19 inches tall, wide at the base and narrow at the middle and then wide at the top. There are markings on the side in 3 inch increments ( 3,6,9.12,15 and 18 ). It does say inches. Both came in wooden stands because of there height. Does anyone know what these are called? All it says on the bottom of one of them is handgemalt with a 12 beneath it and then a number 23 in red.The matching stein also says handgemalt but with a 4 and the other number has smudged. I will be taking digital pictures of them soon. If anyone would like me to send them a picture of them,to help identify these steins, please let me know.
