John, Ron,& Walt When I was looking at this stein when it first came on e-bay, the first thought was a fake Mettlach and thought that someone added new clay to bottom and covered up the HR mark and mould number. But the pewter thumblift looked like a new one that is used on a great number of new steins as it is cost effective compared to the sometime elaborate thumblifts used at the turn of the century. Also the inlay bothered me as I can never remember this one on the HR stein, but one never says never with steins. But the real reason why I questioned many things about this stein immediately and the RED FLAGS went up, there was another one on e-bay within the last week but I believe it wasn't marked Mettlach or HR. Did anyone else see the other one??
