Dear fellow collectors:

Greetings! I wonder if someone here might be able to provide me with some information on the stein that is pictured in the five photos below. It stands about 8 1/2 inches tall. The pottery is a combination of high gloss and matte finished majolica type ware. The lid is set within a metal ring. I assume that the metal is a pewter or zinc base. The very detailed image is of a soldier and his lady beneath a tree. The background depicts a rolling countryside and town. Below the couple is the word, "NECKEREI". The image also has the inscription within a flowing banner that reads, "Geniess'im Edlen Gerstensaft.....Des Weines Geist, Des Brodes Kraft". The lid has the common inscription, "Prosit". In the glossy glazed brown band, directly below the rim is the capacity, "1L". The only marking on the base is the number "1353" or it could be an incompletely pressed "1858". I would greatly appreciate any information that could be provided as to its age and manufacturer. I have no idea if it is an original or recent reproduction. Thanking you in advance, Paul
http://www.deadzoom.com/member/reddogantiques/germstein1.jpg
http://www.deadzoom.com/member/reddogantiques/germstein2.jpg
http://www.deadzoom.com/member/reddogantiques/germstein3.jpg
http://www.deadzoom.com/member/reddogantiques/germstein4.jpg
http://www.deadzoom.com/member/reddogantiques/germstein5.jpg
