I have a Mettlach stein with a Franz Ringer signature at the bottom of stein,
just right of the handle. The bottom has the markings "Mettlach" and
"3002". Underneath 3002 looks like the Roman numeral 2 (II). It also
has a patent mark between Mettlach and 3002; I think it says "Gessesch"
but the middle few letters weren't pressed into the stein hard enough, and I
can't make the middle few letters out. It also has an upside-down "19"
on the bottom right of the bottom, and an upright "04" on the bottom
left. It also has some sort of design above "Mettlach" but I'm not
sure what it is. The design on the stein is several people walking left, one
carrying a pig and others carrying food and drink. There are two lines of
writing around the base. It says (as best I can put it): (Top) "BRATENDVFT
VND WVRZIG BIER" (Bottom) "LOCKET ALT VND IVNGHERFVR." It also
has a 1/2 L (liter) mark at the top of the stein left of the handle. It is in
excellent condition. I would like to get a value on my stein, and I may sell it.
I have plenty of pictures of the stein.
[from the webmaster - Frank's photos are quite large and take a long time to
load. I have cropped, resampled and saved them as JPG images, making the file
sizes a great deal smaller. Links to those images are provided here, links to
Frank's original photos are below that.]
