This appears to be a child's fairy tale stein. The photos are rather small, but I believe it says "Der gestllefelt Kater" which translates to "Puss-in-Boots." The mark is that of Albert Jacob Thewalt of Höhr-Grenzhausen, Germany. Höhr-Grenzhausen is in the Westerwald area known as Kannenbäckerland, the land of the jug makers. If the "T" within the "A" has a dot above it, which it appears to have, then the stein was made between 1897-1918, probably designed by Wilhelm Kamp. Thewalt is still producing steins and has a web site at http://www.westerwald-keramik.de/handwerk_thewalt2.htm. I believe children were served small amounts of beer, hence this size stein.
