Your stein could be by Mathias Girmscheid. "Gut Holz" means "Good Wood." The other phrase is “O Kegelspiel du edler Sport, dich pflegen wir an jedem Ort.” (Oh Bowling, you noble sport, we enjoy you wherever we are.) Your handle probably has a hole in it meaning a lid was intended for the stein. This stein is considered more run of the mill. Missing the lid and not being in very good shape it does not have much value. I can't give you a date as this stein could have been made over a long period of time.
