Some of the SCI convention steins that were issued during the West Germany period (1949-1990) say "Made in Germany." These marks have to be considered with other factors when trying to date steins. Mettlach was the only one to provide a year of manufacture mark. The real regimentals provide a date around the presentation date. Other manufacturers have a mark that can usually be identified with a period. However, some periods are long, such as the Simon Peter Gerz mark in use since 1862. If you can date your steins to an era you are doing good.
