I just bought a one liter Mettlach PUG stein, dec. #627 (unmistakable), form 1526 from an antique shop today for 35 bucks. Not bad. Fun thing is that this person has hanging on the wall behind her desk is a document stating she is an 'official' appraiser. My two questions follow. 1.Kirsners 1994 Mettlach book list the dec. #624 on pg 153 as "Lovers, signed CK". This seems to be the perfect description as mine, but my dec. # is 627. My only conclusion could be that the book is wrong. (There is no #627 listed) 2. Any idea what this says? I will guess what this script is: "Ist dir dein Liebchett ungetreu Sonimm es nicht zuschwer As blüht so manche Rose noch. Die gerngebrochen wär! Thanks, Eric
