Hi! I was reading in the library about determining the basic marks. I picked up this stein for 9.99 at a thrift shop. It has an ornamental cone lid thats pewter. It is dingy looking on the lid, like an antique brass. The number under the handle is 1197 It has Albert Jacob Thewalts mark, but the one I have, the letter T looks different than the mark I saw in the library, but the triangle and a line going through it are there. This is inscribed. It is also stamped "Western Germany" in like a blueish color. On one side it says"Da ivar ich jiingstzu gaste" (I think) and on the other"Bei einer Wirtin wnder mild" It has a scene of a woman a peasant lady, holding a tray of food, a man sitting next to a barrell playing some musical instrument like a guitar, another man that looks like a Captain by the color of his red sash and hat is to the side of him holding his arm out saluting. Did I do ok with the 10.00 I spent?
