A Mercury mark under the glaze? Are we sure it is a genuine Mercury mark. I thought they were stamped over the glaze. Maybe I'm wrong, but I always thought this piece was English with a German style pewter lid attached. I've seen another one of these somewhere and I can't remember where. I'll work on it.
