I have a stein that I inherited from my father, whose parents both came to NY from Germany in the early 1900's. The stein is marked with "1076 Geschutzt" which I realize is a "patent" of some type. There is no manufacturer name indicated on the bottom. There are the numbers "1526" and "30" and another number that appears to be "08". The thing that got my attention is that the painting on the stein was done by a "H. Schlitt". Could this be Heinrich Schlitt? The painting is 3 parts. One of a gentlman smoking a pipe and holding a rifle...one of him running up a hill to meet his wife...and the third is men at target practice. The lid is pewter with crossed rifles and a target and says "UEB AUG UND HAND FURS VATERLAND". There is an eagle at the top of the handle. If anyone is interested, I could probably get a digital photo. Does anyone have any idea where this stein may have been manufactured...or what it might be worth. I might be interested in selling.
Thanks!
