After reading the article by John McGregor about the Fritz Thenn Regensberg Steinzurg Factory, I was able to get some information about my stein, I think it came from this factory.
It was a wedding gift to my grandparents (both born in Switzerland) but married in Philadelphia, Pa about 1910. I don't know if relatives from Switzerland gave them this or a German family my grandmother was living with before she got married.
It has a 1L. with a line under the numbers on the top left from the handle. This is why I think it came from the Regensburg Steinzurg factory in the article by Mr. McGregor. The article shows this type of indentification.
The very bottom has the words "GIEBT GUTE TROPPEN" and "GERSTEMIT HOPFEN" around the stine. The scene on the right of the handle is a scroll work of some flowers with a script of :"Behut dich Golt Eswar ze schongewesen", then continuing around the stein a scene of a horse with a "robin hood type" knight blowing a trumpet, with a castle in the background, another scroll like type of flowers with script "Behut dich Gott Eshat nict sollen sein". It has a pewter top.
There is a small chip on the bottom of the stein. Other than the small chip, it is a beautiful colorful stein.
I would like to know if anyone could give me any information on this stein. There is no one in my family still living that can give me any information.
Or are there some books out there where I can do the research? I'm not a stein collector but would like to know about this particular stein.
I have not taken pictures of it yet. Hope someone from your organization can help me.
Thank you for your time.
