Thanks for the info. I check out alot of the Mettlach steins on ebay against The Mettlach Book and have noted some differences in the lids and description. According to the book most of the etched steins had the option of either a ceramic or pewter lid. The other steins did not always have that option. My concern as is mentioned in the book would be a replaced lid. Not being an expert it would be difficult for me to identify a quality replacement. I have had lids added to steins and have purchased steins with lid replacement that were very obvious. Thanks again for your advice. Richard
