pewterer's marking?

Hello all,

I was wondering if anybody can identify/date a glass master stein by the marking on the pewter lid? The marking has the text "94% Zin" (94% pewter), together with the initials "JVW", as seen on the picture: http://home.wxs.nl/~pauleck/pics/pewter.jpg I believe this pitcher is pre-1900's.
