A similar experience with "mr_boggis" in Germany. I was the high bidder on an original regimental. He let me know up from that it would not be sold for "peanuts" (his words). One of the tricks they use when they don't get what they want is to tell you that the item got broken! His feedback (and I.D.) speaks for itself. No cash exchanged and no harm done, just poor ethics. Ebay doesn't care because they got their fee though!
