No Chris, as Ron pointed out I misnumbered one of the items. Number 3254048656 is by Merkelbach & Wick and it appears the owner had a custom lid installed. Number 3255553317 is the one I believe to be R. Hanke.
Most factories supplied their steins with lids. However, if you wanted a special lid, you usually had to take the stein, which you could purchase without a lid, to a local pewter shop and have them install whatever lid you wanted. Some businesses were "finishing shops" and they could buy stein blanks from the major factories with their own mark on the stein, causing much confusion at times, and they decorated the stein and installed the pewter. Then they sold the stein through their own shop, or distributed them through local retailers.
