Is anyone familiar with Sitzendorf steins? I purchased a tall stein. The crown on the mark is slightly different from the crown that is listed in Kovels' New Dictionary of Marks. The pewter lid has an engraving that looks like a symbol or letter followed by ein-zinn 95%. The stein is strange because only certain parts are lightly glazed. Other the main body of the stein is more like a bisque material. The stein reads Rothenburg o.d.T.(or possibly J). There appears to be a number 7 engraved at the bottom of the stein and a blue stamped word that looks like moth followed by a V. The stamp is a little smeared. In black ink, there appears to be the number 11 or 17 on the bottom, as well. I don't see a mark that indicates the size in liters. I'm guessing 1 1/2 Liters.
The thumb rest on the pewter lid has the classic S with two diagonal lines through it and the crown is engraved above it.
Did I possess a piece of junk, or is it worthy of adding to my collection?
