Hi, Vickie. Mettlach form 1526 was their basic plain body shape, made in half-liter and one-liter sizes as well as larger and smaller. The mark "Made in Saar Basin" came into use in 1918 and was used until about 1935. I understand your post to say that the pewter lid has an engraved name and a six-pointed star, which is actually a historic symbol for a brewer or brewery. It's impossible to say any more about the stein without seeing photos, and even then, there is probably little more to learn about it.
