Hi,
My mother has a military stein and has asked me to try and find out more about it. Unfortunately I have no photos, but it has an interesting feature: when it is held up to the light as if finishing the last drop, an image of an old lady either sewing or spinning at a well can be see in the base. It appears that the thickness of the porcelain or ceramic has been varied in order to create this effect. I can find out more information if any one is interested, the stein is dated 1897 and was given to my mother by the original owner.
