Thanks to Walt Vogdes for helping me date my newest acquisition. It is a very attractive 1/2 liter stein depicting a scene with bowlers against a blue background. The detail is stunning. Thanks to Walt, I now know that the stein was made in 1898 since it has a 98 near the form number. It's now my favorite stein. The image is at http://www.thegoodgourmet.com/images/mettlachstein.jpg.
