I answered your question last week but can add to my answer due to the aditional info. The lid was attached to the stein by Martin Pauson of Munich. Evidently the owner purchaed the stein without a lid and had Pauson do the honors, thereby getting a quality pewter lid rather than the factory inlaid lid. The lid is definitely ca. 1880 to 1900. As I explained last week pewter lids were more expensive than inlaid ilds at the time, so the pewter lid was an upgrade from what the factory offered.
