The "earlyware" version of Mettlach #24 is seen in the marketplace far less frequently than the later version. However, it's also true that the earlyware version will normally attract a much smaller number of buyers than its more elaborate and colorful successor. If anything, I'd expect the earlyware stein to sell at the low end of the stated range.
If you're planning to sell your stein, keep in mind that the price ranges in the Beer Stein Library are no more than estimates based on previous sales and current market conditions. On any given day, your stein could sell at auction for a price either above or below the projections. If you're looking for a value for insurance purposes (i.e., replacement value), few would argue with the $325 figure.
