As Jim stated, after the Reinhold Merkelbach and the Gerz, everything else was made in Japan.

You can always tell a Japanese made stein because of the lid apparatus with the two screws. Also, if you place it next to a German made stein you will notice how inferior the graphics are. Look at the eyes!! Japanese made steins also have a color all of their own.

If the stein is musical, Japanese musical steins typically play "How Dry I Am" or "Roll Out The Barrel".

Now you know what to stay away from.
