John is absolutely correct. Steinzeugwerke was a marketing (and possibly distribution) cooperative for four firms which continued their normal manufacturing operations, including placing their own firm's trademark on their wares. A large portion of the items appearing in the Steinzeugwerke catalog are known by other evidence to be the products of either Reinhold Merkelbach, Simon Peter Gerz or (to a much lesser extent) Reinhold Hanke. Steinzeugwerke did not produce any steins, and they had no trademark!
The attribution of any stein to Steinzeugwerke is essentially an acknowledgement that we cannot (yet) say with certainty which of the four member firms actually produced it.
