I recently acquired a 0.5-L stein with heavy, large relief. The body on this flat-bottom stein is large for one of this size: 6-1/2" tall and 3-3/8" diameter, but the bottom is 2-1/2" solid clay. I wonder if manufacturers might have used a single mold for both 1-L and 0.5-L steins and simply packed the bottom with a lot of clay to produce the smaller capacity. Any thoughts? AER
