Tony - Given my suspician that the German language site provided by John isn't likely to be of much practical use, here's a brief overview if the story of Kunz von Kauffungun, which is based on a actual series events in the 15th century.
Kunz von Kauffingen was a knight who participated in a war on the side of the Elector of Saxony (Friedrich the Gentle) against Friedrich's brother Wilhelm. Kunz was captured during the conflict and was forced to pay 4,000 gold pieces for his release. When he asked for remuneration from Friedrich he was refused. In an effort to press his demands, Kunz decided to kidnap Friedrich's two sons.
To make a long story short, while the kidnapping was an initial success, Kunz was quickly captured and eventually beheaded for his actions. Several of his co-conspirators were also put to death.
Regarding another one of your mystery characters, Perkeo was an 18th-century dwarf who served as both court jester and keeper of the royal wine keg in Heidelberg. Despite his size, he was reportedly quite a prodigious drinker and, according to legend, his death came about when he mistakenly drank a glass of water.
I don't know a thing about Furst von Thoren, so if you discover anything, I'd love to hear about it.
