Gee, it would have been nice if someone had mentioned the GK initials right up front. It would have saved a lot of time all around. The colors used on the handle and its style is reminiscent of J.W.Remy, but nearly all of his lids are flat and have a row of beads around the central design. No, inlays don't have to have been made by the manufacturer, but if you actually manufactured the stein I would think that you would use your own inlays. Of course the lid could always be a replacement. Hauber & Reuther used inlays from two different companies on steins made for them by Merkelbach & Wick. Most have M&W inlays, but probably for variety, they also used inlays purchased from Marzi-Remy on the M&W steins.
