Hi Mark, After WWII, Germany was divided among the Alies. The USSR got the east and the west was divided between the US, England and France. England got the north central portion of the west, the US got the south central, basically Bavaria and the French got the west which included Hoehr-Grenzhausen. These three western zones existed from 1945 to 1949. Early D&B saltglaze products were of exceptionally fine workmanship, but they joined the ranks of the mediocre around 1900.
