You see, we're still stuck with personal opinion when it comes to Girmscheid. For years, I've found it difficult to come up with hard proof on many of the theories -- including Les' (bless his soul). Les did so much for stein collectors with his compilations of verse, marks, and Girmscheid catalog -- however, not without a few errors, but for the most part these works are tremendous resources, yet laced with some personal opinions. (I agree with some of them, but that doesn't make them factual.)
Thanks for the healthy discussion. This is where we learn the most!
