Please excuse me for what I fear will be a crude explanation of the following:
1) A 2 liter, blue & light grey stein with a cone-shaped pewter lid. The top section has two birds surrounded by ornamental designs with the word "Prosit!" ("Cheers!" I believe) in the center. The middle section has three heads with shoulders and angel wings below them, also surrounded by designs that look like netting or spiderwebs. The bottom and largest section has a "farewell" scene of a man holding the hand of a crying woman. On other side of this image are lyrics from what I believe is a traditional German song "Morgen muss ich fort von hier Uud muss Abschied nehmen...", etc. On the bottom is etched/engraved "6", "2 ltr", "WESTERN", "ORIG YEAR 1894", and a mark that is similar to this:
_\__| | \ |___\
2) A blue/light grey mug with flat pewter lid. Has two lions surrounded by ornate flower/leaf designs. Between the lions is a barrel with a shovel, mallet?, and leaf/flower design coming out. Above and below are banners reading "Hopfen u. Malz" and "Gott erhalt's".
My mother acquired both of these items in Germany in the seventies. I have no other information about them. I appreciate any help given.
