Hi, I inherited a beautiful stein from my father recently and I am trying to identify it. Please take a quick look at the posted pictures at http://members.cruzio.com/~melville333/index.htm
The stein is 5.5" high at the peak of the thumblift. It is a very rich royal blue with of a portly man with cigar in mouth rolling a bowling ball in successive frames.
The lid is simple solid pewter with a double fluted thumblift that looks almost like a fleur de lis.
On the bottom is inscribed "Made in German" and "1849" and "4". That's all there is.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Chris
