Marc - The absence of a lid on any stein will result in a dramatic reduction in value. Assuming an average value of around $2500 for a copy of Mettlach #2223 in mint condition, I suspect you'd be lucky to get 40% of that ($1000) in an eBay auction. I'd also guess that you could come close to doubling the sale price with an appropriate replacement lid which, as a Munich area resident, might not be all that difficult to find and well worth the effort. - fjl
