Good morning to you Marc, (6:15 in this part of Canada). The word "decoration" confuses me at times when it concerns steins. I perceive garlands, columns, vines, ribbons, etc. as decorations that serve to feature the main subject, in this case, a tavern scene inspired by the works of Defregger. My original posting was to question the overall design of the stein. The tavern scene appearing on the M&R and Girmscheid steins is the same, except the accomodation required for the shape of the steins. Although my physical contact with steins has been limited, I am more comfortable in identifying the creator of some decorations. I am very much in a learning process, still, therefore assumed that a scene inspired by great artists would be exclusive to the modeler of a specific factory. I now realise that "GT", from Marzi & Remi and "KB", from Girmscheid adopted the same scene as part of their individual designs. I believe the little light in my brain has finally turned on. Thank you very much for the information Marc. I must restructure my questions for my other stein. Best regards, Tony B
