The underlined 05C near the lip of the stein is actually 0.5L, meaning that the capacity of the stein is 1/2 (0.5) Liter. The line under it is the fill-to point to reach 1/2 Liter.
The number under the base is the form number or model number of that stein. Another stein may look almost identical but have a different capacity (1L, 1.5L, 2.0L, etc.) and may have a different number inscribed in the base. Or a differnt number under the base may indicate a differently shaped stein. When ordering steins from the manufacturer, the store or brewery would order a quantity of each model number they wanted delivered.
