Hi Tiny,
I strongly suspect that people saw the initial listing but didn't have an opinion to offer about the jug or picher. The hinge has a different look than I've seen used by any of the major stein manufacturers. That leads me to believe that it was made by a manufacturer who specialized in products other than steins. The angel on the lid is a symbol used to indicate lead free or higher quality pewter, however I am unfamiliar with any manufacturer that stamps the angel without a circle or shield-like frame around the angel. Is there any mark on the base that might be a symbol that could be traced back to either the manufacturer or the city of origin? Unfortunately, without a manufacturer's mark, I doubt if you are going to get much information in this forum.
