I have the same stein. The number on the inside of my handle is 393. I can not find any information either. My stein was passed to me from my uncle who was serving in the US Army stationed in Germany in 1958-59. He bought it new, possibly in Gilhausen (spelling?), Germany. I'll keep checking this site to see if you have additional information. If I find anything else, I'll add more.
