Hello,

I found this stein lid on a shipwreck off the coast of Long Island. It is in pretty bad shape and probably not worth anything but I was hoping someone could provide a possible date range as to when and where it was made. It is a very simple lid about 3 5/8" in diameter with a 1/4" round ball thumblift. After reading John McGregor's article on pewter fittings, I cleaned up the hinge and it is a 5 ring closed hinge, rings are about 5/16". The most identifiable feature is a picture of a man and a woman with some mountains in the background. It looks stamped into it but since there isnt a mirror image on the bottom, I guess it was cast. The lid is still attached to the glass handle but the rest of the stein nowhere to be found. Ahain, any help would be appreciated.
