Sorry, Peter, that number doesn't seem to work either. I think we need to come at this a little differently.
Let's first make certain your "stein" is a stein. It must have a handle (one!) and a lid and have been intended for serving or drinking beer.
Next, Mettlach made relief items (could be any color, but white against a colored background is fairly common), transfer printed designs (where the artwork is flat on the surface of the body) and "etched", where the outlines of the colored areas of the design seem to be incised into the clay of the body (you can feel with your fingernail).
There are other variations, but let's start with these.
