The firm of Steinzeug Industrie Coblenz was founded in 1917. It produced fire bricks for kilns and furnaces. The firm acquired the pottery of Walter Müller, lock stock and barrel, including designs and molds for beer steins. They later acquired at least one further pottery in the Westerwald, and production continued until 1931 when it ceased to survive. The town of Höhr-Grenzhausen was formed in 1936 by the merger of those two formerly separate villages.
