Hello, I have recently acquired two steins, and am trying to figure out who manufactured them...
With the first mystery stein I have tried to find other like steins, but I have not been able to come up with any answers as several manufacturers have traits similar to this one. There is an engraved inscription on the lid to Ludwig Wunderlich in 1892 that I am having trouble translating the rest of the message for... This stein is quite heavy, and the pewter seems to be quality as it is heavy as well, and laid substanitially, not like other newer souvenir steins I have unforunately bought, lol.. I believe the center image was printed, but I cannot say for sure since I am still pretty new to collecting steins, and I think the floral decorations are etched or maybe someone could help me with the correct term when they see the close-up photo...
For the second stein, it seems like an older souvenir stein to me, maybe one of the earlier ones from the earlier 1900's, but like I said before, I am new, so I still have a lot of learning to do! :) The stein seems to be in fair condition with a large amount of crazing, a few hairlines or cracks, as well as the tip of the woman's nose is missing. I thought this stein was interesting because I believe the German writing translates to "See for you foam is not beer" which I thought was comical... also, I thought the hand applied handle was interesting as well...
Thank you for your time and any help you can give! :)
