Hello John, and thank you for the new information! Can you please tell me what the decoration style of the scroll/floral designs of the side are? I have not seen it before and do not know what the term is, I thought etched, but that does not seem right, and it is not relief, maybe incised?
Also, for the second stein.. after reading the SCI article "Pewter Through The Ages" would I be correct in thinking this stein can be dated from 1892 to post 1945?
And one more question if possible for my ever curious mind.. on the second stein, especially near the top rim, (http://www.elancedesigns.com/steins/2/pages/DSC_1661.html) it looks like 'bubbling' or maybe uneven glaze, is this something that can occur during prodcution, or aging? .. and is it seen as a flaw? I paid $15 for the first, and $17 for the second, so I would like to think I didn't pull one over on myself again, lol...
